Good For My Family – Business Software Program Review

It’s a total waste of time and money. Well, this would be the third time I’ve had to “update/upgrade” Quicken. For example, do not run an instance of Firefox as admin, but be running Quicken as a lower level user. This will break manual downloads really quickly. They graciously sent me link to download 2008 Home & Business for free. I’ve always been happy with their customer service, and they listen to the ‘voice of the customer.’ So if there’s a method/feature you think could make the product significantly more valuable, or if you just have a question, please feel free to tell them. I’ll gladly pay a bit more for something that WORKS! I’m flabbergasted by how hard this product is to use.

They have made it harder to use and removed some functions altogether. If you don’t download transitions from your bank then don’t bother with this. And of course they changed the data format. Quicken being practically the only game in town, and I being a long time user of quicken and TurboTax was what dictated my purchase. I guess Intuit went with the lowest bidder. Quicken still loads junkware when loading the program.

Great, I thought, now let me find the applet that shows my income for the period, and that will serve me almost as well as the 2010 solution. Gee, doesn’t seem to exist.

This BY FAR is the way to go – everything is nicely organized and all the values are now correct. The down side to this is I’m going to have to leave Microsoft Money on the computer for a couple years just in case I need to look up an old transaction. They didn’t hide any menus/buttons, etc. While the software is good minus the online component, I can’t in good conscience give it a good or mediocre rating for the following reasons: 1. Plus, all our accounts are automatically updated, unlike Quick Books which requires manual input. If you don’t have employees, Quicken is a small business owner’s dream. He repeated told me to do it the intuitive way which was wrong but could not tell me how to do it correctly. He researched and asked others.

I figured the Expense Categories were not correct so I began the process to correct them. So after 2 hours on a chat with Intuit, I finally find out that if you have your Expenses tied to Schedule F tax schedules, they are not considered a Business Expense.

The process of sun setting older versions is annoying, but ultimately necessary I believe. This allows the product staff to focus on making new versions better vs. Also for any loans I had when I made a payment it put the entire payment amount towards the principle and didn’t break it down between principle/interest/insurance/etc. I deleted and recreated the Quicken account and re-imported multiple times and eventually gave up as I could never fix all the errors.

For some reason, my paid invoices came in with a zero amount and the customer payments were missing their categorizations. microwave carts and stands.
